November, 2025
IIT-Delhi, Sonipat Campus
As part of this Advanced Aerosol Instrumentation and Analysis intensive course (Nov 19-29, 2025), jointly organized by the Center for Atmospheric Sciences, Indian Institute of Technology Delhi and INAR, University of Helsinki. Course was attended by 25 PhD students and researchers from across India, and covered deep-dive sessions into data science for air quality, aerosol instrumentation, source apportionment, and hands-on measurement and analysis. The course combined lectures, practical sessions, field-relevant datasets, and even science-communication sessions (by faculty from India and Finland) — all aimed at strengthening the next generation of aerosol scientists.
At the course, we conducted sessions over one-day, on foundational knowledge for air quality management, operational basics of emissions and pollution modeling, and a hands-on exercise on designing an air quality monitoring network using thumb rules, geographical information of the city, and the operational constraints. The students were asked to present their interpretations and suggestions of their design in a short interactive session.
